Reverend Dr. Alvin Costello Robinson was born in Hyman, South Carolina where he grew up in a spiritual and caring Christian home with his 2 brothers and parents, the late Nathaniel and Leila Robinson. Upon graduating from Gibbs High School, he attended Friendship Junior College (A.A. Degree), Allen University (B.A. Social Studies), Francis Marion College (M.Education), B.D. at Morris College, Honorary Doctorate of Divinity, Morris College, other studies at USC and Appalachian State University. In 2004, he received a Doctorate of Christian Education from Cathedral Bible College. He also received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army in 1970. His honors and degrees are a testament to his thirst for training and learning.
Prior to becoming the esteem pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Robinson ministered at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Patrick, SC; Round-O-Baptist Church, Darlington, SC; and St. John Baptist Church, Latta, SC. He has humbly served Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church for the past 39 years.
Under his leadership, Pleasant Grove has witnessed the building of 2 new sanctuaries, over 40 ministries, a new A.C. Robinson Family Resource Center, and Pleasant Grove Academy which values an aggregate total of $1.3 million. His work in the community does not go unnoticed. He spearheaded a $3.6 million grant from HUD for a 53 unit housing project for the elderly and mildly impaired. Additionally, he assisted in securing an $80,000 grant for the Little Pee Dee Baptist Association from the Office of Governor of South Carolina for water and sewage for the Little Pee Dee Manor, Inc. Also, he was the founder and organizer of the Youth Department of the Chesterfield County Union. Both the church and the A.C. Robinson Resource Center, which houses the Academy, are incorporated (501) (c3) organizations.

Dr. Robinson has preached in many states, conducting as many as 35 revivals in one year. He has preached at the National Baptist Convention, USA in Kansas City; traveled extensively in many foreign countries and most of the United States. For the past 14 years, he has been the guest preacher for other pastors, different ministries, and conferences in
Philadelphia, PA. His most exhilarating and memorable experience was his travel to the Holy Land and being baptized in the Jordan River. Many have confessed Christ under his administration and new organizations have been formed; over 40 ministries developed with the Church membership doubling; recipient of over 500 certificates for meritorious services, plaques and awards local, state and national. He is the proud father of three children, three grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
